So yip man taught students in Hong Kong a different modified version from the one he learned? is this because he felt it was better or he was trying to keep the original art a secret?

Thanks very much ... I've only just come across this 'most senior' student of GM Yip Man. Keep it coming and keep it alive. The more the better ... for us and Wing Chun!

Interesting how Lun Gai's Siu Nim Tao set is reminiscent of both the Yuen Kay Shan WCK and early Yip Man WCK as taught in HK.

The Tan Sao elbow position in the first section still goes out in the midclavicular line. Huen Sao marks the end of each section, unlike the YKS Siu Lien Tao where the Lop Sao is done.

The second section is very close to the YKS set, particularly after the double Lan Sao Fak Sao setction where the hands go to Jum Sao and withdraw to the sides.

In the 3rd section, the Tan Sao section is followed by Gaun Sao (or Gwat Sao), and repeated, as opposed to Jum Sao, which is allegedly a "Leung Bik trait" and allegedly Yip Man taught this section with Jum Sao in HK prior to Wong Shun Leung's time, which was supposedly a "Chan Wah Shun trait".

In the YKS Siu Lien Tao, it is Jum Sao.

Its clear that Yip Man changed/customized his WCK with different students.
